As you know, the worlds in Minecraft are randomly generated and stretch almost into infinity. Unlike many other well-known games, Minecraft doesn’t have a directly available mini-map that shows us players what we can expect at the next corner.

Even though this uncertainty and the discovery of unexpected places contributes significantly to the appeal of Minecraft, many players sometimes wish they had a bit more of an overview in order to make faster progress in the game or to plan the next building.

First of all you need to know the seed of your server. If you are playing solo or on your own server this is pretty simple. You just have to type the command /seed and you will get your world seed. If you play on a bigger online server or on the server of a friend, you might not have the appropriate rights and have to ask for the seed. Of course, on some servers it is possible that the seeds are not revealed to you. This prevents you from having a decisive advantage on a survival server, for example, because of the seed map. Once you have the seed, you can start using the tool.

1. Copy your seed into the appropriate field.
2. Choose the version you created your world on. Example: If you are currently playing on version 1.18, but created the world when you were active on version 1.16, then select version 1.16 here.
3. Select the dimension you want to view. Here you have the Nether and the End in addition to the usual Overworld.
4. Choose which highlights you want to see. This option is helpful to bring some clarity to your map if you are only looking for something specific. Note that some highlights that occur frequently, such as mineshafts, only become visible on the map when you zoom in to a certain degree.
5. Additionally you can highlight certain biomes in the map. You can also jump to a specific coordinate.
